Heart Flutters

Sherrie

Message 16 of 16 Previous

This can be a very serious and possibly fatal problem, the only way to find out is to see a cardiologist...get an echo done, they will then later do a EKG probably, ...What you could have is a cardio myopathy, now to make it more confusing there are several types, some worse than others... after an echo, I found out my heart rate was 179, I had two valves not closing completely.... the fast heart rate you can search under atrial fiberlation also known as A-fib.... there are many different ways they will try to get your heart back to a normal sinus rhythm.... basically when there is an arrythmia, the bottom of the heart pumps, the top half flutters, leaving the blood within the heart to stagnate, blood clots are a high risk with this and can be fatal .. I was just diagnosied in January, but I know more about hearts than I ever wanted to.... age isnt a factor, im 47, they say i may have had it for a long long time, my infarction output is 45, 60-65 being good and 30 being bad, im in the middle, one thing I have learned is the longer your heart stays in a fluttering state, the harder it is to convert it back to normal with any success.... weight and age arnt neccessarily factors, many m,any athletes end up with some form of cardio myopathy, usually the one where the heart muscle thicken, dont play with your life, get a first and second opinion if needed, It is a very frightening thing and to serious to be brused off . I hope all turns out well for you and for all who have posted... I didnt write to sound like gloom and doom, as there is lots of help out there, but you have to go get it .... Sherrie
